About the Society

A society for reform, awareness and excellence

The Society for Workplace and Academic Reform Awareness and Joint Excellence (SWARAJ) is a non-profit, non-political and secular society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, working across the whole of India. It was founded on a simple conviction: that education and medicine flourish only when they rest on equality, merit and dignity. SWARAJ brings together teachers, students, doctors, researchers and healthcare workers who believe that fair institutions produce better scholars, better clinicians and better care. The Society upholds constitutional values, natural justice and due process in academic and medical life, and works to keep places of learning and healing safe, respectful and free of discrimination, bias and intimidation. Through awareness programmes, research, publications, lawful support and honest dialogue, it stands beside those who face unfair treatment while championing the highest standards of teaching, training, research and patient care. Every rupee the Society raises is devoted to these aims — its income and property are applied solely to its objectives, and no portion is ever distributed as private profit. In short, SWARAJ exists to defend merit, protect dignity and advance excellence, so that talent and character, rather than circumstance, decide how far a person can go.
